Since many large public gatherings have been put on pause due to COVID-19, Pride Month celebrations are looking a little different this year. If you’re wondering how you can show your Pride, allyship, and support while still maintaining social distancing, we recommend participating in a virtual run! Below is a list of virtual runs that support the Pride movement. Pick a race (or two), wear your most fabulously colourful running gear, and hit the road!
Colors+ Virtual Pride Run/Walk - 6/27
For this virtual race, you can choose between a 5K run or a 1-mile walk. The registration fee is $26 with a race shirt included or $16 without the shirt. Race organizers will also be raffling off participation prizes, so make sure you take a sweaty selfie during your run/walk to post on social media or to send in to the Colors+ team! Funds raised from this event will go directly to programming at Colors+ Youth Center.
Pride Run Series - Ongoing
Though the physical versions of this race series are located in Las Vegas and Phoenix and aren’t happening until next year, registration for their virtual counterparts are open now through December 31, 2020! Each virtual race gives you the option between a 10K or a 5K run/walk. Simply register, record your run/walk, and snap a few pics to secure your custom finisher medal in the mail!
AfterShokz will be partnering with Pride Run Series this summer, so exciting things are coming for those who register for these races.
Pride 5K and 10K Virtual Charity Run - Ongoing
This virtual running challenge requires you to participate through either their Facebook or Strava groups. Registration is $25 and includes a virtual race bib, medal, and the knowledge that you helped someone in the LGBT community! 20% of gross race fees will be donated to The Trevor Project.
Love Runs The World 5K - Now through 6/30
Join the Love Runs The World 5K and celebrate Pride Month by helping contribute to gay rights organizations The Legacy Project Chicago, Outfront Minnesota, and the San Francisco LGBT Center. Registration is $50 and includes a race shirt, race bib, and commemorative medal mailed right to your door! All you have to do is register, complete your run, and report your time to be added to the national results leaderboard.
